Annual Report 2006

 

This past year saw a continuing decline in the membership of the Special Libraries Division and in attendance at division meetings. In the summer of 2006, there were just seven members of the division. An e‑mail was sent out during the spring of 2006 to most of the librarians in the Special Libraries Division Directory encouraging participation in WVLA and in the Special Libraries Division. This effort does not seemed to have resulted in any new memberships.

 

The Special Libraries Division is sponsoring one program at the Huntington conference: "Meeting the Legal Needs of West Virginians: The Role of Librarians and Legal Professionals". Panelists include Kevin Fredette, Head of Public Services, WVU College of Law Library; Kaye Maerz, State Law Librarian, West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals Library: Tom Tinder, Executive Director, West Virginia State Bar ; and Bruce Perrone; Legal Aid of West Virginia. The panelists will discuss issues involving the impact of pro se litigants on libraries and courts. The Special Libraries Division Directory is available at
