Minutes of WVLA Technical Services Roundtable

Meeting Held April 6, 2006

Flatwoods, West Virginia

 

Chair, Gordon Ernst opened the meeting at 3:30 p.m. 

 

Most of the time involved discussing the previous presentation by Sophie Bogdanski of WVU on RDA.  The members agree that the cost of this might be prohibitive for smaller libraries in West Virginia.  Also, since these are new standards with more cataloger judgment allowed, should we have a standard for West Virginia libraries to go by when applying RDA?  These are topics for future discussion as the process toward implementation of RDA continues.

 

There was some discussion about programs for WVLA Annual Conference.  Gordon Ernst offered to do a presentation on the Digital Photo Project that WVU is currently doing.  It was agreed that would be a good session.  No other suggestions were made at this time.

 

The meeting adjourned around 4:00 p.m.  The next meeting will be held at WVLA Annual Conference in Huntington, October 2-4, 2006.
